Do You Wake Up Happy?
What side of the bed do you normally wake up on? Do you wake up happy? Do you wake up frustrated, exhausted with worry and depressed before the day has even begun or are you excited and positive about starting your day? If you are so accustomed to waking up less than enthusiastically, perhaps it's time to take a closer look at your state of mind and ask yourself......"why am I giving up on myself and the day before my day has even had a chance to be brilliant?"
It is true....attitude is everything! If you answered yes to waking up on the wrong side of the bed then maybe it's time to make a change. Just a few simple adjustments can make all the difference in your day and your life! Sounds simple enough? If you are waking up grouchy and unmotivated than most likely, a few small adjustments couldn't hurt. Here are a few tips for switching the side of the bed and the side of attitude you wake up on each morning.
1. Go to bed with a clean slate: Each of us accumulates a full basket of worries, stresses, negative emotions and anxieties throughout the day, weather through our interactions with others or through our own thoughts and emotions. NEVER go to bed with these thoughts and emotions flooding your thoughts and feelings. Make sure to LET GO of the baggage from the day before retiring for the night. If not, despite your natural filing process that occurs while sleeping, you will carry that extra weight over into the next day and it will continue to be a burden and weigh you down....even if only subconsciously, it will remain there when you wake in the morning.
So, even if you have to deal with issues from past days tomorrow, you can still LET IT GO before heading to bed at night and deal with it fresh when you need too. Worries from the day have no place in the peaceful place of your rest. Rest assured you will sleep better and more peacefully, feeling more refreshed int he morning.
Typical ways of relaxing now a days are chilling in front of the television, reading, going out for an alcoholic drink. These common methods may work well for just chilling and unwinding but they are NOT truly helping you clear your slate and unload your baggage for the day. Imagine how relaxed and refreshed you would feel utilizing both your normal methods of chilling out and techniques for clearing your daily slate; not t mention how fantastic and re-vitalized you will feel after a good night's sleep that comes from falling asleep with a light heart and carefree state of mind.
Here are some suggestions for clearing your slate before turning in for the night. You know they have been successful when you achieve peace of mind after partaking in one or more of the processes below:
1. Meditation(true meditation: (conscious but not thinking/single-pointed focused-ness) 10-20 minutes
2. Relaxation excercise or guided meditation (10-20 minutes)
3. Taking a silent walk (15-30 minutes) WITHOUT music or a silent walk while repeating positive incantations or the Universal Montra OM. (refer to list of incantations to be posted this week).
4. Prayer time with a lit candle. During silent prayer time take yourself through a letting go process for yourself.
5. Journal writing (10-30 minutes or the amount of time needed to "let go" of and put to rest your daily baggage).
2. Set your frame of mind, thoughts and mood before your feet touch the ground: Make sure that your thoughts are creating the attitude and frame of mind that you want to set the tone of your day before your feet hit the ground. If your first thoughts upon waking do not create positive feelings of and a enthusiasm to get up and begin your day.....take a few moments to create this mental and emotional state of being that motivates you creating excitement to engage in your day. Do you want to get up with a bounce in your step and discover a powerful component for creating a great day that beginning before you even roll out of bed? Great! You can begin by focusing on that which makes you feel good about welcoming the new day! It can make all the difference in your daily attitude and power to be a more powerful conscious creator of your day, your week, your life!
All the best!
